What’s the Most Common Cause of Back Pain?

What’s the most common cause of back pain?

Muscles!  Muscles are the most common cause of pain in your back.  But why?

Wait!  You think I’m kidding.  You think it’s nerves, right?  But what presses on the nerves?  Muscles.

You think it’s bones?  But what moves bones?  Muscles!

So, why and how do muscles cause back pain?

The simple answer is:  Overuse, underuse or abuse.

Most children don’t have back pain (or any pain) because they’re using all of their muscles a LOT.

But when we get older–or when we start using electronic devices for too many hours–muscles and other soft tissues get “stuck”.  They start to lose their flexibility.

Muscles and soft tissues like fascia and nerves get unhappy.  When they get unhappy, they complain.

Complaining muscles pull on bones, press on nerves and cause pain in the low back.  Upper back pain.  Pain around the shoulder blades.  Neck pain.  Even head pain.

What helps get rid of back pain?

The most common cause of back pain is muscular and muscle relaxants are not the best answer.

Getting back into balance like when you were a child is a good answer.  NOT doing the things, like slouching and spending hours in head-down position on a phone, is another good answer.

There are relatively easy ways to help your muscles WAKE UP and get back to neutral.  Neutral means happy muscles and happy muscles means less back pain.

No more nasty knots in your back!

Lift your breastbone.  Lift the crown of your head.

Try to create the same posture you had as a toddler, with your tummy out and your waist curved inward in back.

Stretch.  Hang.  Sway.

You deserve to feel better and get rid of that annoying pain in your back!
